Dry to Fly

School is back in session, and Elle Vie is here to make sure that you’ve studied up on your skin care. With Elle Vie, you’ll be glowing as bright as the last rays of summer sunshine and prepared for the upcoming cool weather that can be harsher on the skin. Let Elle Vie take you from dry to fly in every season.

Dry Don’t Fly

You may like your wine dry, your humor dry, and your phone may even be dry, but the one thing that should never be dry is your skin! We should all know by now that ashy is never cute, but that’s not the only reason to banish dry skin.

Dry skin can also cause itching, flaking, and even bleeding in severe cases. In addition to not being cute, dry ashy skin is just downright uncomfortable. And you deserve to be comfortable in your own skin.

The Y? In Dry

One of the main reasons dry skin occurs is that your skin loses water(moisture) too quickly. There are a lot of factors that contribute to how prone to dryness your skin is. Some of these factors are out of our control, such as age, genetics, and weather, but there are plenty of things that we do to cause dry skin that we may not even realize.

The temperature and length of your showers, the type and quality of products that you use on your skin, your water intake, and the steps of your skincare routine can all contribute to or combat dry skin.

From Dry to Fly

Now that you know better, you can do better for your skin with these tips to take you from dry to fly, courtesy of Elle Vie:

  1. Moisturize Immediately After Your Bath or Shower
Since the main cause of dry skin is losing water, the best time to moisturize is immediately after your bath or shower. You have about a 5 minute window to maximize moisture retention.
The lotions and creams that we use are far more effective at holding moisture in rather than adding it to your skin. This goes for handwashing as well, following up with a moisturizer will keep dryness far away.

  1. Choose the Right Products for You
The way you are moisturizing is almost as important as moisturizing itself. Some products that claim to be good for your skin could actually be drying it out with strong fragrances and harmful chemicals.

We love Elle Vie’s body butters for a 100% natural, fragrant, and effective way to moisturize your skin, but you should find what works best for you. In general, the more natural ingredients the better.

  1. Exfoliate Regularly
Exfoliating is an important step in keeping your skin healthy. A layer of built up dead skin can prevent moisture from fully penetrating your skin and reduce the effectiveness of your skincare.

  1. Listen to Your Skin
It’s important to pay attention to what does and doesn’t work for you. The same skincare routine that works in the summer may not be enough for the drier months, and that’s ok! Listen to your skin and don’t be afraid to try something new.

With these things in mind, you’ll go from dry and ashy to fly and flawless in no time at all. And we'll take super fly over super dry any day.
